How will funds be used?
-
Raising National Awareness and Support
We need to gather as much support as possible for this campaign. You may have heard or seen SWAP on BBC Essex radio, ITV Anglia and in the Braintree & Witham Times, Dunmow Broadcaster and The Guardian newspaper.
We also have a social media campaign that is gaining motion.
-
Landscape Assessment
The planning barrister has advised that a landscape assessment to include ecology assessment is crucial before the spring.
WASC ( Wethersfield Airbase Scrutiny Committee ) are also looking at a digitised site view and a traffic survey.
-
Planning Barrister
A planning barrister has been consulted in the early stages for advice on what steps to take before the MOJ put planning in to BDC.
-
Outreach to Sponsors of Alternative Uses
There have been other parties interested in purchasing the MOD site for sustainable uses. We continue to reach out to companies for alternative uses that will see a sympathetic approach to development and bring local jobs to the area.
-
Legal Fees
If MOJ put planning in to BDC we will need to employ a legal team to fight the application. This will be very costly but it can be done.
-
General Running Costs
We have so far raised enough money through donations for the website, flyers, banners and IT support. Many local companies have also offered their services free of charge to help with the cause. We are very grateful for any donations and they will be used 100% for the SWAP campaign.
